WITH PASSION SINCE 1969

Genetic improvement is cumulative and permanent
with time and the right resources

A CLIENT’S SUCCESS IS OUR REWARD

Mike and Gemma Smith, have been developing the Kincardine Angus stud in the heart of the Wakatipu area since 2006.

The same foundations of fertility, soundness, longevity, temperament and performance genetics started by Mike’s parent’s Alistair and Di Smith in 1969 remains at the heart of the stud today. Kincardine bulls extol these virtues and are known to stand up to the harsh rigors of the South Island’s High Country Stations through to coastal pasture farms.

“We gain great pleasure from visiting client’s farms and seeing magnificent lines of females entering their herds, strong robust calves at weaning and phone calls from finishers excited about their kill sheets as their rewards roll in. A full genetic improvement circle.”

“Kincardine Angus Bulls have been used on our commercial beef operation for the last four seasons.

We have introduced Kincardine genetics into our breeding herd with great success.

We have seen an improvement in all the key performance indicators we measure:

  • Bull soundness

  • In Calf rates - First/Second cycle percentage

  • Ease of Calving

  • Growth Rates to weaning

  • Temperament

  • Optimum growth rate to finish faster and produce an animal that meets optimum specifications and produces a premium sort after carcase.

If you are looking to improve and add to your herd's genetic performance, give Mike a call and just take the time to go look at the bulls he breeds, talk to him about your requirements and make your own mind up.”
